On Friday, May 9, at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo, Sri Lanka Women lost to South Africa Women in Match 6 of the Women’s ODI Tri-Series 2025, thanks to a hat-trick from Chloe Tryon. In women’s cricket, Chloe Tryon became the third South African to achieve a hat-trick, following Masabata Klaas (2019) and Dane van Niekerk (2013).
Chloe Tryon wreaked havoc with the ball in the 42nd over of the run-chase after scoring an aggressive 74 (51) earlier in the day.
Malki Madara, Sugandika Kumari, and Dewmi Vihanga were among her victims. The over’s last three deliveries were dot deliveries. The hosts were down and out after Tryon’s triple-wicket maiden destroyed their outside chance.
In 42.5 overs, SA-W bundled SL-W for 239. With impressive numbers of 5/34 in eight overs, the all-rounder claimed her first five-wicket haul in international cricket. Because of her overall excellence, she was named Player of the Match. This victory was South Africa’s first in the tri-series finale.
