Gujarat Titans (GT) bowler Arshad Khan has confessed that winning and reaching the finals is the team’s major goal as they prepare to face the Mumbai Indians (MI) in the Eliminator on May 30 in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025.

GT has experienced two straight defeats in the league stage, dropping to third place in the points table. The bowler discussed the team’s approach following their loss to Chennai Super Kings (CSK), describing it as a difficult setback but emphasising the need of remaining optimistic.

“I believe our last game was not very good, but in the future match, whether we play an eliminator or a qualifier, what is most important to us is winning, and it is God’s plan that we will get to play an extra game.

So, we’ll strive to win this match, make it to the finals, and hopefully win that one as well,” Arshad Khan told NDTV Sports.

GT, who were a formidable force in the IPL 2022 and 2023 seasons under Hardik Pandya and Shubman Gill, will attempt to repeat their dominance and compete for the crown this year. The left-arm pacer acknowledged the importance of the next match and emphasised that every game is an opportunity to grow.

“Every match is important, and every match teaches us something,” the coach said.

Arshad also admitted that the Hardik Pandya-led squad has had its ups and downs, but it remains a formidable opponent, particularly in high-stakes games. He highlighted that it is not about who the opponent is, but rather how successfully the squad executes its plans on game day.

Earlier in the season, GT defeated MI twice in the league stage. As a result, GT will look to duplicate their victory in the Eliminator at Mullanpur against the five-time champions.
