It is anticipated that ace batsman Virat Kohli and Indian skipper Rohit Sharma would compete in the forthcoming Duleep Trophy 2024–24 season. This choice is a part of getting ready for the pivotal two-Test series against Bangladesh, which might determine whether India advances to the World Test Championship finals for the third time in a row.
All regular players should be available for the Duleep Trophy, which starts on September 5, according to the senior selection committee, which is directed by Ajit Agarkar.
This season’s event, which will follow a new format, will feature teams full of celebrities. According to a report in The Indian Express, in addition to Rohit and Kohli, other notable players including Shubman Gill, KL Rahul, Axar Patel, Ravindra Jadeja, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Suryakumar Yadav, and Kuldeep Yadav have been invited to take part.
Jasprit Bumrah might not participate in the Duleep Trophy.
But Jasprit Bumrah, the elite pacer, will be conspicuously missing from the contest. After the T20 World Cup and IPL 2024, the selectors gave him more time off, putting his workload management first.
Given that India has ten Test matches in the upcoming four months, including five pivotal contests in Australia, the selection committee is expected to debate Bumrah’s inclusion for the Bangladesh Tests.
The organisation of the competition is being adjusted to fit the elite players. Although the main location is in Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh, the BCCI is thinking of holding one round at Bengaluru’s M Chinnaswamy Stadium because of improved connectivity.
The first Test match against Bangladesh in Chennai on September 19 coincides with the six Duleep Trophy matches, which are slated to take place between September 5 and September 24.

Whether Rohit and Kohli will play in the opening match of the tournament or begin play from the second round on September 12 is still up in the air. The BCCI may alter their Duleep Trophy participation schedule by holding a brief camp in Chennai prior to the Bangladesh series.
