On September 5, 2024, the esteemed Duleep Trophy 2024–25 is scheduled to return. The 2024–2025 domestic season in India will begin with this event.
The competition is especially important this year since Indian cricket players will use it as a vital training ground to earn their places in the September Test series against Bangladesh. Top players like KL Rahul, Shubman Gill, Ishan Kishan, Suryakumar Yadav, and Yashasvi Jaiswal will compete to earn Test places.
This season, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) changed the format of the Duleep Trophy, moving away from the previous zone system and towards a four-team configuration. There won’t be any knockout phases in the round-robin competition between Teams A, B, C, and D.
At the conclusion of the event, the team with the most points will be declared the victor. The competition will run from September 22 to September 22 at three different locations: M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, Rural Development Trust Stadium and ACA ADCA Ground in Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh, and Bengaluru.
The BCCI has mandated domestic players’ participation in order to guarantee the greatest possible preparation for the national squad; however, important players such as Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, and Ravichandran Ashwin have been excluded in order to avoid injury ahead of the Bangladesh series.

The Team B squad has released all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, and the board has not yet named a replacement. Due to illness, Mohammed Siraj and Umran Malik will also miss the four-team tournament; Navdeep Saini and Gaurav Yadav will take their places, respectively.
