The Shreyas Iyer-led side lost the first two matches of the campaign but in the final game, they rose to the occasion to get the job done. The team management also changed the batting order, which worked in their favour and played a massive role in their success in Anantapur.
In the first innings, Devdutt Padikkal and Srikar Bharat were asked to open, and their partnership of 105 runs provided the team a boost. In addition to Ricky Bhui, who batted at number three, both openers scored fifty runs apiece. Later, the squad scored 349 runs in the first innings thanks to a remarkable 106-run knock by keeper-battler Sanju Samson.
India D defeated India B by 257 runs in the final round of the ongoing Duleep Trophy 2024
India B had a very difficult time responding. While Washington Sundar made 87 runs, captain Abhimanyu Easwaran once again got a century, but seven of their batters only managed single digit scores, which greatly contributed to their disadvantage. The B team was only able to muster 282 runs in the second innings thanks to a five-for from Saurabh Kumar for India D.
Throughout the second innings, India D increased their lead. Shreyas, the skipper, produced a half-century while Bhui amassed an undefeated 119 runs. India B was unable to meet their stated aim of 373 runs. Their lack of courage at the bat made India D’s task easy on the game’s last day.
