Indian batting legend Dinesh Karthik, who plays for Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the Indian Premier League, made a recent suggestion that he would give up on the game. Karthik’s IPL 2024 contract with RCB will expire following the tournament because the mega auction is scheduled for 2025.
Dinesh Karthik recently spoke candidly about his plans for the future of the game and even made a subtle jab at former Pakistani cricket player Shahid Afridi for retiring many times and then returning to action.
Dinesh Karthik expressed his opinion that, like everyone else, he must terminate his career. He thought back to the IPL 2024 and contrasted his positive feelings with his negative experiences in the DY Patil Tournament.
“It is about to end. This is the end of it. In a few games, I did play good batting. It surprised me much that I felt well. Playing, broadcasting, and mixing are not simple tasks.
Dinesh Karthik stated, “I felt terrible playing in the DY Patil Tournament,” on the SKY Sports Cricket Podcast with Michael Atherton and Nasser Hussain.
In addition, Dinesh Karthik expressed the opinion that, unless one is Shahid Afridi, retiring marks the end of one’s career and that one cannot return. He also disclosed the regrets he would have about his professional life.
“Once it’s done, it’s usually done, unless you’re Shahid Afridi, who is currently retired. In my opinion, after you’re done, are there any things I missed or regret? I regret a few things. One passed up the chance to stay with the Mumbai Indians. They were adamant that I not play for the Super Kings as I am from Chennai, therefore I believe I lost the chance. Despite their constant bids, they have never been able to win me. “I wish I could go back in time and make changes,” Karthik remarked.
