As a result of his outstanding performance in the recently finished T20 World Cup in Australia, India’s Suryakumar Yadav has maintained his status as the top batsman in the ICC’s men’s T20 International batting rankings, which were released on Wednesday.
After an outstanding performance in the Super 12 stage of the Twenty20 World Cup, during which he smashed three fifty-plus scores in five innings, Suryakumar Yadav ascended to the position of No. 1 batter in Twenty20 Internationals. Because of the performance, he was able to acquire a rating that was the highest it had ever been in his career: 869 points.
Suryakumar Yadav has been able to maintain his position at the top of the leaderboard despite the fact that his rating fell to 859 after he was dismissed for 14 during the semi-final match against England.
The 32-year-old finished as the third greatest run scorer in the competition after accumulating 239 runs during the World Cup at an impressive average and strike-rate of 59.75 and 189.68 respectively. He also finished as the third highest run scorer overall in the competition.
Alex Hales of England, who scored an undefeated 86 off 47 deliveries in the semifinal match against India, made a significant leap, moving up 22 spots to finish in the 12th position overall.
Hales finished the Twenty20 World Cup as England’s second-highest run-scorer with 212 runs at an average of 42.40. He was also England’s second-highest run-scorer overall.
Since making his return to the England team earlier this year, Hales has been playing at a very high level of form. In 2022, he has scored 430 runs in Twenty20 Internationals, with an outstanding average of 30.71 and an equally impressive strike-rate of 145.27.
Babar Azam and Rilee Rossouw are two other hitters who have moved up in the rankings to place them in the top 10.
In the semifinal match against New Zealand, the captain of Pakistan scored the winning fifty run, which allowed his team to advance one spot and move up to third place.
After New Zealand’s Glenn Phillips was knocked down to the eighth slot, South Africa’s Rossouw was able to move up to the seventh spot and take it. During the T20 World Cup match between South Africa and Bangladesh, Rossouw had produced a fantastic century.
Other hitters who rank among the top five are Mohammad Rizwan, Devon Conway, and Aiden Markram. Suryakumar and Babar are also included in this group.
Rizwan and Markram have both been able to maintain their places at second and fifth respectively, but Conway has been forced to settle for fourth place after Babar has usurped the position that he previously held at third.
Adil Rashid has made the most progress in the bowling rankings as a result of his amazing performances in the semifinal match against India and the final match against Pakistan, respectively. In the two matches, respectively, Rashid posted the scores of 1/20 and 2/22, which allowed him to climb five positions and reach the third rank.
After earning Player of the Match honours with a performance of 3/12 in the match’s decisive match against Pakistan, his countryman Sam Curran moved up two rankings to take the No. 5 position. Bowler rankings have not changed, with Wanindu Hasaranga maintaining their top spot, followed by Rashid Khan.
Shakib Al Hasan, Mohammad Nabi, and Hardik Pandya continue to hold down the top three slots in the rankings for all-rounders, respectively.
