The Delhi & District Cricket Association (DDCA) has opened bids to purchase the different teams that will compete in the Delhi Premier tournament, the first-ever T20 tournament for men’s and women’s cricket players.
A ‘Notice Inviting Tender’ (NIT) was issued by the DDCA to bidders on team franchises, with the anticipated start of the new tournament in August/September 2024. The cricket governing body wants to conclude the league by September 15 in order to give their players ample time to get ready for the Indian domestic season, which begins later this year.
The men’s and women’s teams in the Delhi Premier League are expected to field six teams apiece in its inaugural season. They’ll play in two different leagues using a round-robin system, and the playoffs and finals will determine who wins in the end.
The DDCA maintains the right, from time to time, to change the number of teams taking part in the competition as it may see fit.
A minimum bid of INR 25,00000 (twenty-five lakh) must be submitted by interested parties, and the successful bidders will be required to make a presentation following evaluations before the winner is decided. The bids must be submitted by July 15 at the latest.
“The league is proceeding as planned. There is work to be done on the modalities. In an interview with TOI last week, DDCA president Rohan Jaitley stated, “But the goal is to start the league by end of August and finish it before Sept 15 so that it leaves enough time to prepare for the BCCI’s domestic season.”

The inaugural Bengal Pro T20 League, which includes eight men’s teams and the same number of women’s teams, was recently organised by the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB). Due to a number of gifted players who took advantage of the chance, the competition saw some degree of popularity growth. With the aim of launching a new chapter in the history of franchise cricket in the Capital, the DDCA would like to see comparable success.
