In Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 match 47, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Delhi Capitals (DC) are facing off. With five victories from eight games, KKR is presently ranked second in the points standings. On the other side, DC is in serious need of a victory, as they sit sixth with five victories from ten games.
At Eden Gardens in Kolkata, DC captain Rishabh Pant won the toss and chose to bat. In 39 IPL games played at this location since 2017, this was only the second time a side had opted to bat first. Prithvi Shaw returned for DC, Mitchell Starc and Vaibhav Arora rejoined the KKR lineup, and Rasikh Salam Dar took the place of Impact Player Mukesh Kumar.
Match 47: Highlight of KKR vs. DC first innings
1.3 overs, DC 17-1 at first wicket
Mitchell Starc was hit for three boundaries by Prithvi Shaw in the first over, setting a fast pace for the innings. But Vaibhav Arora got the DC opening (13 off 7) out of the very next over. At first, Phil Salt was apprehensive and KKR sent it upstairs, but the umpire did not indicate out for caught-behind.
Powerplay 1: Mandatory 67 runs (3 wickets) every over, from Overs 0.1 to 6.0
Despite losing three wickets in the process, DC was able to limit the run rate at the end of the powerplay. After hitting Mitchell Starc for a six and a four, Jake Fraser-McGurk bowled him out in the third over. Following Vaibhav Arora’s explosive delivery that removed his bails, Shai Hope was the next man to return to the pavilion.

DC then had a strong powerplay thanks to the combination of captain Rishabh Pant and Abishek Porel. A refreshments break was called, and it was also time for the first strategic time out.
100 runs in 12.2 overs (74 balls) by Delhi Capitals
Following the powerplay, Harshit Rana removed Abishek Porel from the game, putting the Capitals in danger. With 13 runs in the tenth over, Pant and Axar Patel provided some respite for DC. However, mystery spinner Varun Chakaravarthy (27 off 20) dismissed DC skipper Varun Chakaravarthy in the very next over. Delhi scored 100 runs in the thirteenth over, but Tristan Stubbs (4 off 7) was another crucial wicket lost.
At the second strategic timeout, the Delhi Capitals’ score was 128/8 in 16 overs, with Kuldeep Yadav (20* off 9) and Rasikh Dar Salam (2* off 5).
DC kept getting wickets while the KKR spinners created a web around their middle order. Chakaravarthy took his third wicket of the evening, dismissing Delhi’s Impact Sub, Kumar Kushagra, after Sunil Narine had taken the wicket of Axar Patel. In the 16th over, Mitchell Starc let up further runs as Kuldeep Yadav hit him for two boundaries.

Delhi Capitals: 153/9 in 20.0 overs at the end of the innings (Kuldeep Yadav, 35* off 26; Lizaad Williams, 1* off 2)
DC managed to make a respectable but not very high score of 153 in their 20 overs, despite losing wickets frequently. At 111/8, it appeared as though KKR would quickly end the innings. But in the second half, Kuldeep Yadav gave the visitors something to fight for with his 35 off 26 balls.
