Deepti Sharma, an all-rounder for the London Spirit, is feeling quite optimistic coming into the Women’s Hundred 2024 Eliminator match against the Oval Invincibles. Remarkably, the two sides faced off twice throughout the season; Oval won the second game easily by eight wickets, while the first game ended on a scoreless draw. Deepti doesn’t feel under pressure in spite of this, especially considering how well she performed against Oval.
In the first game, which London lost by eight wickets, she amassed 44 runs and took three wickets while scoring an undefeated 46. Deepti explained before the Eliminator that the objective is to stay on the right side of the outcome by keeping things straightforward and following the plan. Notably, the victor of the match advances to the championship round, where they will face Welsh Fire on August 18.
“I’m pretty sure what we have to do and what our plans are; very clear about that, because we are going to play a third game.” All I have to do is think simple thoughts all the time. Just keep things easy, have fun with every game, and express myself. I’ve adhered to it since the beginning, Deepti said.
Deepti Sharma talks about using Charlie Dean’s dressing room.
When Deepti ran out Charlie Dean at the non-striker’s end at Lord’s, she became the talk of the town. Cricket fans around the world were split at the development, with Charlie and her captain Meg Lanning being particularly furious. Two years later, though, the three of them share a dressing room in London. Deepti talked about this while mentioning that they are all excellent players and teammates and that she doesn’t dwell too much on the past.
“I am someone who always forgets things from the past, so when you are playing on the same team, I forgot everything.” I constantly make an effort to be in the now, observe the present, and follow the ongoing matches. Because they are excellent teammates and athletes, we simply click every day and enjoy every second spent together, whether it’s in the team room or not.

“Meg has arrived… I told her that I was thrilled to be playing on the same team as her because I usually play against her. She’s just plain awesome. Whether she’s outside the ground or batting, she’s always got your back. She has a nice nature, Deepti remarked.
