Day 5 of the 2018 Commonwealth Games was outstanding for India, who won gold in the women’s four-lawn bowls competition, the nation’s first medal in the sport. A few hours later, after eliminating Singapore in the men’s table tennis team competition, the men’s team brought home the top honour. Vikas Thakur, a weightlifter, also took home silver in the men’s 96kg division. After losing to Singapore in the championship match, the Indian badminton team took home a silver medal in the mixed team competition.
The group would now like to maintain the stellar performances and their current winning streak. The women’s cricket team will play Barbados on Day 6 of the ongoing competition, and the men’s and women’s hockey teams will also be in action.
