David Warner will lead the Delhi Capitals in IPL 2023 in the absence of Rishabh Pant.

David Warner will lead the Delhi Capitals in the next 16th season of the Indian Premier League, while normal captain Rishabh Pant is unavailable. Because to the terrible injuries sustained in the December 2022 accident in which Pant was involved, he will miss the entire IPL 2023 and the Australian stalwart will head the franchise.

Warner has been named captain, and Indian all-rounder Axar Patel will serve as his deputy. Axar has been performing exceptionally well in the ongoing Border Gavaskar Trophy and across all formats. Axar Patel has established himself as a premier all-rounder who contributes equally with the bat and the ball.

As Sunrisers Hyderabad released him prior to the IPL 2022 mega auction, Delhi Capitals signed him for 6.25 crore INR. He exceeded the team’s expectations and performed brilliantly in the role of opener. Warner scored 432 runs in 12 games during the 2016 season, including five half-centuries, and brought his top score of 92*(58) against SRH.

Warner has participated in 13 editions of the Indian Premier League over the course of more than a decade. Warner also has experience heading an IPL franchise, having served as captain of Sunrisers Hyderabad and leading the team to its first IPL championship in 2016. This has not yet been officially announced by the franchise.

“David will be our captain, and Axar Patel will be his deputy,” a member of Delhi Capitals’ ownership group told Cricbuzz.

Warner will return during India’s ODIs.
With Ricky Ponting as the team’s head coach, David Warner will have little difficulty guiding Delhi Capitals. Warner was recently in India for the Test series, but he has now returned home after being ruled out of the remainder of the series in the middle of the second Test in Delhi. The opening batsman will return to action for the three-match ODI series after being chosen to Australia’s 16-man team on Thursday, February 23.
