"Dasun Shanaka has been disappointing," said Virender Sehwag about the GT batter before the important Qualifier 2 match against MI.

Before the Qualifier 2 match between Mumbai Indians (MI) and Gujarat Titans (GT), former India bowler Virender Sehwag was very honest about how bad Dasun Shanaka’s performances have been. Notably, both teams will have one last chance on Friday, May 26, to make it to the IPL 2023 championship game.

Shanaka joined the team to replace Kane Williamson, who was hurt, but he didn’t get off to a good start and has had a string of bad scores in the current league. So far, the hitter has gotten scores of 9*, 0 and 17, for a total of 26 runs, which is not very impressive.

Before the very important Qualifier 2, Sehwag talked about how worried he was about Shanaka’s bad patch and gave a simple answer by saying that GT should play Abhinav Manohar instead.

“I don’t worry too much about bowling. But Dasun Shanaka worries me. GT can play Odean Smith and Alzarri Joseph for him. Shanaka has been poor. We had high hopes for him, but he hasn’t even lived up to 1% of those dreams. “Instead of Shanaka, GT should play (Abhinav) Manohar, who is a batter who can hit sixes,” Sehwag told Cricbuzz.

Titans will need Mumbai to play well: Sehwag
Sehwag also pointed out that the five-time champions will have to be at their best to beat the Titans. He thought that the defending winners would try to make up for their loss in the last match, which took place on May 12 at the famous Wankhede Stadium. Sehwag also said that Mumbai might make one change and bring in Kumar Kartikeya before the “win or go home” match.

“Mumbai will have to play well against Gujarat Titans when they go to Ahmedabad because they lost their last game against MI at the Wankhede Stadium. I don’t think that Mumbai will change a lot. I could see another bowler taking the place of Hrithik Shokeen. Maybe Kumar Kartikeya? If not, I don’t think they’ll change much,” Sehwag said.
