In Match 29 of the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup 2023, Team India defeated England by a margin of 100 runs on Sunday, October 29 at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow, continuing their winning streak. In their allocated 50 overs, the Men in Blue amassed a formidable 229/9 after being placed to bat first. In response, Mohammed Shami claimed four wickets as England was bowled out for just 129 in 34.5 overs.
Kuldeep Yadav, a left-arm spinner, was equally impressive with the ball, amassing figures of 2/24 in eight overs. In the 16th over, the 28-year-old produced a remarkable delivery to claim the coveted wicket of England captain Jos Buttler (10 off 23). Buttler was offered the ball by Kuldeep as he was coming off the back foot to play it. But the ball abruptly redirected itself towards the English hitter, leaving him stunned and devoid of his stumps in the process.

Mohammed Shami went hunting in a pack with Jasprit Bumrah.
England’s top order was reduced to 39/4 after 9.1 overs by Mohammed Shami and Jasprit Bumrah’s run-scoring exploits earlier in the innings. After dismissing Dawid Malan (16 off 17) and Joe Root (0 off 1) in consecutive deliveries, Bumrah (3/32, 6.5 overs) came back to take the final wicket of Mark Wood (0 off 1) to bowl England out for 129.
However, in only seven overs, Shami claimed 4/22 with the wickets of Jonny Bairstow (14 off 23), Ben Stokes (0 off 10), Moeen Ali (15 off 31), and Adil Rashid (13 off 20). Due to his outstanding 87 (101) on the sluggish Lucknow pitch, Captain Rohit Sharma was named Player of the Match.
