Beginning on June 1, 2024, in the USA and the West Indies, the eagerly awaited ninth T20 World Cup will feature 20 nations competing for the prized trophy. The first match between co-hosts USA and Canada will be held in Dallas, while the eagerly anticipated India vs. Pakistan match will take place on June 9 at Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in Long Island, New York.

The crucial final of the T20 tournament will be held in Barbados on June 29. The two semifinals will be held in Guyana and Trinidad & Tobago on June 26 and 27, respectively. There will be three locations in the United States and six in the Caribbean for the 29-day competition.

In contrast to the previous four editions of the competition, the new structure will see the 20 competing teams split into four groups of five teams each. In addition to the USA, Canada, Ireland, Pakistan, and India, these nations make up Group A and will host all of the group’s matches.

Group B includes Australia, Namibia, Scotland, Oman, and the reigning winners, England. Group C includes co-hosts from the West Indies, New Zealand, Afghanistan, Uganda, and Papua New Guinea, while Group D includes Asian rivals Bangladesh and Sri Lanka, South Africa, the Netherlands, and Nepal.

Interestingly, only Group D will have matches held in the US and the West Indies. After placing first and second in each group, teams advance to the Super Eights stage, where they will be split into two groups of four. The teams’ pre-tournament seeds will decide the Super 8 draw, regardless of how they place in their respective groups. Notably, teams will begin the competition with a pre-assigned group for the Super 8 stage as well.

In the Super 8, the top two teams from each group advance to the semifinals, where the two winners square off in the championship match.
