Rohit Sharma is an Indian international cricketer and the captain of the India national team in ODIs. He is also a former captain in Tests and T20Is. He is widely regarded as one of the greatest opening batters of all time, and one of the best batsmen of his generation.
As one of the top limited-overs batsmen, Indian cricketer Rohit Sharma has established himself with a number of memorable innings in international cricket. Here are a few of his best performances along with an explanation of what made them so special.

173 balls needed for his 264, Rohit Sharma struck 33 fours and nine sixes. He regularly found gaps and displayed excellent timing and placement throughout his inning. His ability to start an innings from scratch and pick it up speed at will was demonstrated by this knock.

Rohit became the third player to score a double century in one-day international cricket (ODI) history with this innings-long effort. Most of the damage came in the second half of the innings with 12 fours and 16 sixes in his 209 runs. Particularly up against a potent Australian bowling attack, Rohit demonstrated his signature carefree hitting.

He achieved a record-breaking third double century in ODIs. Rohit’s flawless innings-pacing score of 208 off 153 balls was outstanding. With 13 fours and 12 sixes in the end, he had begun conservatively and then unleashed a flurry of boundaries. It was evident how he could turn starts into enormous scores.

An important half-century in one of the greatest rivalries in cricket, the World Cup match versus Pakistan. India amassed a dominant total thanks to Rohit’s 140 from 113 balls. His bold strokes, especially against Pakistan’s pace assault, coupled with his cool, collected demeanour set the tone for India’s triumph.

It was his first century in an opening Test. In difficult circumstances in Visakhapatnam, Rohit scored an undefeated 122. He batted first in Test matches and opened with a controlled aggression that helped India establish a solid base. His tenure as a successful Test opener began with this innings.

“Well, I think from an ability and experience point of view, they could play, I don’t think there’s any doubt in that, but they’d have to be on the ground of international cricket. If I were the coach or convener of selectors, because no matter how good you are, thinking that you can just play a few games or select a few games, not put in the hours and then step in and think you’re going to perform, no, that doesn’t work that way,” he said in an exclusive interview with Hindustan Times”
“Bhai Behen ki Shaadi Nahi Hai, Thoda Shaant Raho!”
→ To teammates making too much noise during a DRS discussion (hilarious & viral moment).
“Abe B****, seedha ball daal na yaar!”**
→ Said jokingly to a bowler during a tense moment – caught on stump mic. (Bleeped out, became meme material!)
“Ek baar jod ke maar na, chhakka hi jayega!”
→ Encouraging a teammate while batting in a chill yet confident tone.
“We don’t look at the opposition; we focus on what we have to do as a team.”
→ Classic leadership statement reflecting calm focus.
“I don’t just hit sixes; I build my innings. That’s the difference.”
“Talent can only take you so far. After that, it’s about attitude and discipline.”
“Sometimes doing nothing is a great way to get things done.”
→ On staying calm and waiting for the right moment.
“Tum log tension kyun lete ho yaar, main hoon na!”
→ Popular among fans for his chill attitude.
“Mujhe kya karna hai, mujhe toh batting karni hai, run banana hai.”
→ When asked about pressures of captaincy.
“Main Rohit Sharma hoon, mujhe pata hai main kya kar raha hoon.”
→ Confident clapback when criticized for slow starts.

No script. No preparation. Only emotions.
It’s not often you’re asked or are expected to voice a 3.5 mins monologue.
A broadcaster lives to get the opportunity to call these moments…thank you @JioCinema for this. #IPL2024 pic.twitter.com/G1xxRoUvvL— Aakash Chopra (@cricketaakash) May 28, 2024
