As the Delhi Premier League (DPL) 2025 approaches, Purani Dilli 6 star wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant, their flagship player and retained choice for INR 21 lakh, has been ruled out of the event owing to a fractured metatarsal in his right foot. The injury occurred during the fourth Test against England at Old Trafford, when Pant valiantly came out to bat on Day 2 despite his pain, striking a half-century. However, the injury has forced him out of play for at least six weeks.

Rishabh Pant absence is a major loss for Purani Dilli 6 and the DPL as a whole.

His presence not only increased star power, but also provided the squad with a strategic advantage. Pant only appeared in the first match of the DPL 2024 season, scoring 35 from 32 balls. Nonetheless, he was expected to play a larger role this year, particularly with no overseas series scheduled for Team India in August. Despite his early elimination from the DPL 2024, Purani Dilli 6 has high hopes for Pant in the future season.

In the southpaw’s absence, Purani Dilli 6 has named Vansh Bedi as their new captain for the 2025 season. Bedi is now in charge of managing a quality team that advanced to the semi-finals last year and hopes to retain the coveted crown this time around. Meanwhile, team owner Akash Nangia is confident in Bedi’s leadership ability.

The squad also named PUMA as their official jersey sponsor and Radio Mirchi as their official radio partner for the second season. Purani Dilli 6 will begin their DPL 2025 campaign on August 5 versus Outer Delhi Warriors at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. The team will compete against the West Delhi Lions, New Delhi Tigers, and South Delhi Superstarz. The DPL 2025 includes eight teams separated into two groups. The top four teams from the league stage will advance to the playoffs, which will conclude on August 31 (with September 1 designated as a reserve day).
