During the fourth Test of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy at Old Trafford in Manchester, England veteran Joe Root surpassed South Africa’s Jacques Kallis to become the third highest Test run-scorer of all time. Root now has 13,290 Test runs, creeping closer to former Australia captain Ricky Ponting, who is second with 13,378.
Joe Root has been in top form in the present series against India, scoring over 250 runs, including a century and a half-century.
During his last effort, he became the first hitter in history to score 1,000 Test runs at Old Trafford.
Root enters an elite company as only the third England hitter to score 1,000 or more Test runs in two distinct venues. He earlier hit 2,166 runs at Lord’s and now joins Alastair Cook and Graham Gooch in reaching this milestone at both Lord’s and The Oval.
