The 50th match of the IPL 2025 saw the Mumbai Indians (MI) defeat the Rajasthan Royals (RR) by a commanding 100 runs in an exciting game at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur. Rajasthan chose to bowl first, but their bowlers found it difficult to hold a strong MI batting lineup as the visitors amassed a respectable 217/2 in 20 overs.
The tone for MI’s enormous total was established by Rickelton and Rohit Sharma’s opening combination. Rohit’s 53 off 36 balls kept the momentum going after Rickelton’s 61 off 38 balls, which included three fours and six sixes, gave him a strong start. Then came Hardik Pandya and Suryakumar Yadav, who both finished undefeated at 48 runs. With the last extras reaching seven runs, their efforts helped MI reach a dominant total.
RR’s batting collapsed under pressure as they chased a daunting mark of 218. They lost wickets quickly, with Yashasvi Jaiswal being removed for just 13 and Vaibhav Suryavanshi being removed for a duck. Due to the devastating effects of Boult (3/28) and Bumrah (2/15), the middle order was equally precarious. No RR hitter was able to handle the intensity of the MI bowlers, despite brief resistance from Riyan Parag (16) and Shubham Dubey (15).
Jofra Archer put up a valiant fight with the bat, scoring 30 runs, but Rajasthan was dismissed for a pitiful 117 in 16.1 overs. MI stormed to the top of the points table and continued their winning run to six games. However, with this crushing loss, the Rajasthan Royals were knocked out of the tournament.
