The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 is almost over, with only two matches remaining. The cash-rich tournament, which began on March 22 at Eden Gardens in Kolkata, has now advanced to the playoff stage after weeks of battle. Punjab Kings (PBKS) will face Mumbai Indians (MI) in Qualifier 2 on June 1 at the massive Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

As the knockout stage progresses, weather has become a huge issue. The weather has already impacted numerous matches this season, causing changes in point positions and harming the team. With the competition coming to a finish, fans, players, and pundits are expecting for uninterrupted play. To account for anticipated weather disruptions,

The IPL Governing Council has authorised an additional hour of playtime for rain-affected matches.

This season also featured a 10-day stoppage owing to cross-border tensions between India and Pakistan, resulting in a revised calendar. As a result, the IPL final, originally planned for May 25 in Kolkata, has been moved to June 3 in Ahmedabad. Rain is expected in the host city on match day, only hours before the all-important event begins.

However, there is no reserve day scheduled for Qualifier 2. If rain forced a washout in Qualifier 2 between PBKS and MI, PBKS will progress to the final because they lead the Points Table with 17 points, while the five-time champions ended fourth with 16 points. Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) have already advanced to the final after defeating PBKS in Qualifier 1.

The victor of the PBKS vs MI match will meet RCB in the grand final on June 3, also in Ahmedabad. The final has a backup day, unlike Qualifier 2. If the match is postponed due to weather on June 3, the final will be played the following day, June 4.
