Star cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal divorced Dhanashree Verma on March 20, 2025, after the couple ended their nearly four-year marriage on amicable terms. Chahal was seen wearing a T-shirt that read ‘Be Your Own Sugar Daddy’ during the court hearing where the divorce was approved by the judges. The cricketer recently disclosed his intentions.
with a recent interview, the 35-year-old stated that he did not aim to cause any drama, but rather intended to convey a message, which his attire aided him with. He stated that certain external factors leading up to the final court hearing compelled him to wear that T-shirt no matter what.
“I didn’t want to engage in any drama. I only wanted to convey one message, which I did [with the T-shirt]. Something happened on the other end, and I didn’t plan to answer. But then something happened again, and I thought, ‘Enough is enough; I don’t care about anyone anymore.’ “I didn’t abuse anyone; I just wanted to convey my message,” he explained on the Figuring Out with Raj Shamani program.
How much alimony did Chahal pay?
He also spoke candidly about managing to ‘sign a good deal’ when it came to paying Dhanashree the alimony sum. He did not really go into detail in relation to the same topic. Yuzvendra Chahal and Dhanashree tied the knot in December 2020 after meeting each other for the first time during the COVID-19 pandemic. He had first met her during when he had approached Dhanashree for dance lessons ahead of some familial function.
Chahal’s superb County form
Although Chahal has been struggling for a spot in the Indian team since August 2023, he has been a regular in the Indian Premier League and domestic cricket. He is currently representing Northamptonshire in the ongoing County Championship season, and has been contributing with the ball for the club in the Division Two of the county league. The Haryana cricketer will be looking to impress in the domestic set-up for a comeback to the international arena.
