For the upcoming Caribbean Premier League 2024, the reigning champion Guyana Amazon Warriors kept nine players. While homegrown players like Shimron Hetmyer, Romario Shepherd, Gudakesh Motie, and Keemo Paul have extended their contracts with the team, captain Imran Tahir has been discharged ahead of the upcoming season.
Additionally, the Amazon Warriors have kept Shai Hope, who won Player of the Tournament in 2023. Additionally, Kevin Sinclair, Shamar Joseph, Kevlon Anderson, and Junior Sinclair have all agreed to stay on staff with the franchise. Shamar had the best season out of these four. His outstanding performance in the away series against Australia helped the pacer secure an ILT20 and Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise contract with the Lucknow Super Giants.
Joseph, however, was injured and missed the ILT20. He returned for the LSG in the IPL. Though he failed to make an impression, he is still regarded as a bright young player. In a press statement, Guyana confirmed the development and said that the CPL draft, which is scheduled for July, will determine the fate of the final three players.
The Republic Bank Caribbean Premier League (CPL) draft is almost approaching, and the Guyana Amazon Warriors have revealed the players they will keep. For the 2024 season, they have nine committed players, and they have the option to recruit up to five foreign players. The news announcement stated, “The CPL draft, which takes place in July, will fill the positions of the remaining three squad members.
