The third and last Test of England’s current series is scheduled to take place against the West Indies. Beginning on July 26, the two teams will square off in Edgbaston, Birmingham. It is important to remember that England has already secured the three-match series by utterly overwhelming the visiting team in the first two Test matches.
Ollie Pope, the vice-captain of England, spoke up as the third Test drew near, urging the batsmen to play with greater aggression and to completely destroy the Windies.
“Everyone seems to have settled into their roles, and while hunger is always present, it seems especially strong right now because there is more depth in the batting order and we believe we can achieve even greater things. Ollie Pope was cited by as saying, “At the time it was about building confidence; now it’s about hopefully we can keep becoming more and more ruthless.”
Notably, England reached 400 runs in both innings of a Test match for the first time ever at Trent Bridge in the second Test. With the third and final Test approaching, Pope suggested that the match might have been closer had they not achieved this feat.
We scored a little more than 400 runs in the third innings of the game, and if we hadn’t done so, the result may have been tighter. As a batting team, we want to be as brutal as we can be, but we also want to play the way we naturally do. However, Pope added, “Ruthlessness is a component of playing Test cricket as well.
The vice captain also disclosed that the team plays that way because it comes naturally to the majority of players in the group, which enables them to bat so aggressively.

“Do you get told to play that way? I was asked that question on Day 1,” No, we don’t. It’s just the way we play the games that come naturally to us. Our daily scores can range from 280 to 300, but that’s normal and most likely due to the fact that we’re interpreting circumstances, he continued.
