October 8, 2024, Sharjah: Chris Silverwood has been appointed as the bowling coach for the 2018 ILT20 season, and the Sharjah Warriorz are thrilled to announce this. In the Sharjah Warriorz coaching setup, he works alongside Head Coach JP Duminy.
Known for his exceptional coaching abilities, Silverwood began serving as the full-time bowling coach for the England men’s national team in 2018. Following Trevor Bayliss’s resignation in October 2019, Silverwood assumed leadership of the team. After serving in that capacity until February 2022, the former fast bowler became the head coach of Sri Lanka in April 2022. During that time, he helped the country win the T20 Asia Cup and advance to the 2023 ODI Asia Cup finals. He just concluded his employment as bowling coach with the Oval Invincbles, who along with head coach Tom Moody won the 2024 Hundred competition in England.
South African Performance Coach Tom Dawson-Squibb, who genuinely fosters a winning mindset and behaviors in people and teams, will be joining Silverwood and Duminy in the dugout. Dawson-Squibb has been a part of the sports world for nearly twenty years. In addition to his three spells in professional rugby, he has also worked with the South African cricket team and the Netherlands national team.
Bowling coach Chris Silverwood expressed his excitement about the occasion by saying,
“I am thrilled to be joining the Sharjah Warriorz, who have assembled a very strong and exciting side for the 2018 edition of the ILT20. The setup is dynamic, youthful, and experienced, and I am sure that between us, we can consistently cause problems for the opposing batters.
With the most international players participating, the ILT20 is an exciting competition. We are excited to have Chris join our team as a coach. Chris possesses both expertise and an awareness of the subtle cultural differences faced by subcontinental cricket players.

However, Tom has been a major contributor to the South African club’s success over the past few seasons, and we can’t wait to see him work with JP and the rest of the Leadership group to transform the Warriorz into a formidable team, according to Kshemal Waingankar, COO of Sharjah Warriorz.
