Recent sources suggest that the Men in Blue may have to make a compromise as they would have to travel to the adjacent country for the Champions Trophy 2025, which comes shortly after India gave Pakistan a thrilling defeat in their T20 World Cup 2024 match in New York. This occurs not long after rumours circulated about a provisional 20-day window schedule that the International Cricket Council (ICC) had released.
The iconic India-Pakistan match will be included in the 2025 ICC event, as is customary, with Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore selected as the sacred venue. The highest cricketing council determined that Rawalpindi and Karachi, in addition to Gaddafi, would be suitable places for the eight-team competition.

The majority of the matches, or seven in total, will be held in Lahore, according to Cricbuzz. Rawalpindi will host five, and Karachi will host three. Lahore, the location of all India games, will host the championship game, while National Bank Stadium in Karachi is set to host the opener match. There won’t be any semi-finals held in Lahore, but if India advances to the penultimate round, that match will only take place at their designated location.
BCCI, Indian government’s key to hybrid model possibilities
Historically, especially after the NDA administration gained office, the Board of Control for Cricket in India has complied with orders from the central government. Since the PCB was unwilling to share the rights with the island nation, the board has refused to travel to Pakistan for even a single Asia Cup match. This was demonstrated when Sri Lanka co-hosted the 2023 Asia Cup.
Following the recent general elections that resulted in the NDA government’s preservation of power, the Men in Blue will be actively corresponding with the officials to inquire about the possibility of travelling to another country. But the administration’s position is probably going to stay the same.
