The Zim Afro T10 of 2024 is just a few weeks away from starting, and the five participating franchises have announced their head coaches. The competition will take place over nine days.
In replacing of the reigning champion Durban Qalandars, the NYC Lagos have enlisted the talented former all-rounder Chaminda Vaas of Sri Lanka. Vaas is no stranger to coaching; he has experience working with his country’s national teams as well as those of New Zealand and Ireland.
Regarding the Durban Wolves (Durban Qalandars in 2023), they have included Moin Khan, the Pakistani wicketkeeper-batter who won the World Cup in 1992. In addition to his tenure as coach of the Quetta Gladiators in the Pakistan Super League and Pakistan from 2014 to 2016, he has also held the position of selector for the national team.
Owais Shah, a former English hitter, has been added by the Bulawayo Braves Jaguars. In addition to his involvement with the UAE, he has led the Dambulla Viiking in the Lanka Premier League. Aside from that, he has played in 230 T20 matches, giving him a wealth of expertise in the format.
James Foster, a former English wicketkeeper-batter, was added to the Cape Town Samp Army organisation. Similar to his previously stated former English colleague, Foster has been active in the Indian Premier League, serving as the Kolkata Knight Riders’ assistant coach in 2022 and fielding coach in 2020. In addition, he has led the Peshawar Zalmi and the Khulna Tigers as head coach. He was to serve as batting consultant for Glamorgan in the 2019 Vitality Blast.

The NYC Lagos have signed outstanding former Sri Lankan all-rounder Chaminda Vaas to replace the reigning champion Durban Qalandars.
Chaminda Vaas is no stranger to coaching; he has worked with the national teams of Ireland, New Zealand, and his own country.
The Pakistani wicketkeeper-batter who won the 1992 World Cup, Moin Khan, is a member of the Durban Wolves (Durban Qalandars in 2023). Not only did he coach the Quetta Gladiators in the Pakistan Super League and in Pakistan from 2014 to 2016, but he also served as a national team selector.
The Bulawayo Braves Jaguars have recruited former English batter Owais Shah. He has led the Dambulla Viiking in the Lanka Premier League in addition to his work with the UAE. In addition, he has participated in 230 T20 matches, which has given him a great deal of experience in the format.
Former English wicketkeeper-batter James Foster was appointed to the Cape Town Samp Army. The 55-year-old Julian Wood, who is well-known for his expertise and assistance to several of the game’s best hitters, signed with the Jo’Burg Bangla Tigers, the 2023 runners-up. He was a successful batting coach for the Punjab Kings and has also played for Hampshire and Berkshire.

Pubudu Dassanayake, a Sri Lankan who has coached the cricket teams of the USA, Canada, and Nepal, has accepted the position of head coach of the Harare Bolts (who will become the Harare Hurricanes in 2023) cricket team. During his tenure as coach, Canada defeated the Irish, a full member that plays Test cricket, to win the T20 World Cup 2024 group stage.
The competition will take place at the Harare Sports Club the entire time.
