Chakabva will captain Zimbabwe in one-day internationals against Bangladesh

The appointment of Regis Chakabva as captain for the upcoming one-day international series against Bangladesh was announced by Zimbabwe Cricket on Thursday (August 4). Since the regular skipper, Craig Ervine, is getting some rest to help him heal from his recent niggles, Chakabva will be taking over the helm in Ervine’s absence.

The all-rounder Sean Williams won’t be participating in the series either since he’s been given permission to take some time off to tend to some personal business. In the 15-person team, Takudzwanashe Kaitano and Tarisai Musakanda have taken the places of the two veterans who were there previously.

The remaining members of the squad are all players who participated in Zimbabwe’s recent triumph in a Twenty20 International series against Bangladesh. The first one-day international match of the three-match series will be played in Harare on August 5, followed by two further games at the same venue on August 7th and 10th.

Squad: Regis Chakabva (C), Ryan Burl, Bradley Evans, Luke Jongwe, Innocent Kaia, Takudzwanashe Kaitano, Wesley Madhevere, Tadiwanashe Marumani, Wellington Masakadza, Tony Munyonga, Tarisai Musakanda, Richard Ngarava, Victor Nyauchi, Sikandar Raza, Milton Shumba
