"Captain KL Rahul is a fantastic player, but we must execute our plans in the best way possible," said David Warner prior to DC's season opener against LSG.

Saturday, April 1, 2023, in Lucknow, the Delhi Capitals will face the Lucknow Super Giants in their inaugural 2023 Indian Premier League match.

David Warner, captain of the Delhi Capitals, stated of their debut match, “Lucknow have a solid roster. They also performed well the previous year. We are aware that we will encounter some formidable spinners, as well as fast bowlers. Their captain, KL Rahul, is a talented cricketer. Yet we must execute our plans as effectively as possible.”

Warner also commented on Axar Patel’s role as Vice-Captain, stating, “Axar will have extensive knowledge of all the squad members. He will be responsible for communicating information to the bowlers and will also assist me with the language problem.”

The opening batsman stated that the home-field advantage will be a significant part this season, saying, “You get to know the wicket at your home ground, and your fans give you a lift. The chants of the stadium’s spectators will inspire us to perform at our highest level.”

When questioned about working with DC Director of Cricket Sourav Ganguly, Warner responded, “He’s really laid-back and tranquil. He is available whenever I need anything. It’s wonderful to have him back, as he’s been an asset to the group.

Warner has also spoken with Rishabh Pant, saying, “He is excited to support us as much as he can. I am confident that he will do his best to visit us. But we want him to recuperate, take it easy, and recover as quickly as possible.

DC captain Warner, who has won the Orange Cap a record three times in the league’s first fifteen seasons, is eager to give his all to lead the team to its first-ever championship in the cash-rich league.
