So far, the ongoing Vitality County Championship has provided spectators with some exciting and suspenseful moments. Even though there have been a number of odd runouts over the years, one particular runout from the Worcestershire vs. Essex game at Chelmsford has gone viral online.
Specifically, Worcestershire’s captain Brett D’Oliveira made two vital outs with lightning-fast reflexes that swung the game in his team’s favour. After hitter Jordan Cox attempted to push Van Beek’s ball beyond the fielder, D’Oliviera, who was positioned in ridiculous mid-on region, purposefully ricocheted the ball onto the stumps at non-striker’s end. At one point, Essex had 69/2 on the board and were cruising nicely.
Nevertheless, the side collapsed to 71/4 in the space of three balls. The Worcestershire Captain received the majority of the credit, having removed Robin Das at the non-striker’s end and then sent another dangerous Essex batter, Cox, packing with a brilliant catch. Consequently, Brett D’Oliveira’s team won the game by a score of 43 runs.

However, after losing to Worcestershire, Essex’s hopes of winning the championship were severely damaged, and they now run the possibility of being demoted. Furthermore, they will now have very little chance of catching up to Surrey County in terms of points scored.
