During the ongoing Hundred Women’s event, Smriti Mandhana, the vice-captain of the Indian women’s team, grabbed headlines with a stunning run-out via straight hit.
When the Southern Braves Women were playing the Trent Rockets Women on Saturday in Southampton, something happened. The left-hand batter’s recent batting performances have drawn criticism, which emphasises the importance of her fielding abilities. The first ball of the Trent Rockets’ innings produced the brilliant moment.
The ball was hit towards mid-on by Lauren Cheatle of the Southern Braves, who then tried a quick single after delivering a low full throw around off stump to Bryony Smith.
She had no idea that Mandhana was standing there. Mandhana has lightning-fast reflexes and was able to snap to the ball and toss it straight to the stumps. Smith was taken aback by the flawless throw and was left short of her crease by the non-striker’s end.

Considering Mandhana’s recent batting form, this run-out was very noteworthy. She had only managed to score 15, 0 and 2 runs in her opening three innings of the competition. She was so timelyly reminded of her worth to the squad and all-around ability by her excellent fielding.
