With these latest additions, Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has strengthened its coaching staff.
The coaching staff of Sri Lanka now includes former South African cricket player Jonty Rhodes and former India fast bowling coach Bharat Arun. Alex Kountouri, a former physiotherapist from Sri Lanka, was also included in the statement. During the most recent meeting of the SLC Executive Committee, which was chaired by President Shammi Silva on January 16, 2024, the board decided to bolster its coaching staff. throughout addition, SLC has taken a number of actions to promote the game throughout the island nation.
According to a release from SLC, “Sri Lanka Cricket decided to hire some of the top players in the world of international cricket to give local coaches, trainers, and physiotherapists advanced training to enhance their skills and competencies by conducting periodic training programs in selected areas.”
The statement continued, “To this end, the Executive Committee resolved to hire veteran fielding coach Jonty Rhodes of South Africa, former fast bowling coach Bharat Arun of the Indian national team, and former physiotherapist Alex Kountouri of the Sri Lanka national team.”
The Sri Lanka Cricket Association of Sri Lanka, which organizes yearly school cricket competitions in collaboration with the cricketing body, has recently revealed an award program for young cricket players who demonstrate exceptional performance. Under the initiative, cricket players from the U15 division up to the U17 division will receive recognition. Additionally, the board resolved to honor retiring match officials and raise the match payments for National Super League (NSL) players.
