India defeated England in their sixth match at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow to extend their unbeaten streak in the ongoing ODI World Cup 2023. The team captained by Rohit Sharma crushed the defending champs. Despite making a poor 229 after being put to bat first, by an overwhelming 100 runs, with Rohit scoring 87 runs off 101 balls. After that, the Indian bowlers went on the rampage, dismissing England for 129 runs in 35 overs at the start of the second innings. With a pair of wickets in a row, Mohammed Shami helped India win.
Following two wickets from Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami struck on successive deliveries, first dismissing Ben Stokes for a duck and then dismissing Jonny Bairstow on the first delivery of his following over. Even though India was unable to reach a respectable total, Shami’s two early wickets proved to be vital for the hosts. The elite bowler also took two more wickets, dismissing Adil Rashid and Moeen Ali.

Ben Stokes, the standout all-rounder for England, was hit by a beautiful delivery thrown by Shami. The velocity and lack of bounce proved too much for the English hitter, who eventually caved in to the ball. He tried to shift to the leg side but was out for a ten-ball duck, Shami’s first wicket of the innings.
Shami dismissed opener Bairstow for just 14 runs with his next delivery. The ball was bowled on a firm length close to the off stump to the right-hander, who received it over the wicket. The ball bounced off the inside batter’s knees and struck the stumps as he edged it onto his body.
