The Edgbaston stadium saw an incredible display of violence and joy as the Birmingham Phoenix defeated the Northern Superchargers to win the The Hundred Men’s Competition in history. The two outstanding moments that occurred during the Phoenix’s batting innings, when they chased down a target of 84 for win, were, nevertheless, the clear highlights of the day.
An outstanding bowling performance from Kiwis Adam Milne and Tim Southee, coupled with imperiously superior batting from Englishmen Ben Duckett and Moeen Ali, was the driving force behind this victory.
The first memorable moment of the match was when Duckett, who isn’t usually known for his unconventional approach in Twenty20 Internationals, executed a well-planned ramp shot over the head of the keeper following a Matt Potts delivery. He appeared to know Potts’s line and length before the ball was even released, and he sent it perfectly over the fine-leg area for a resounding six.

Shortly afterward, Duckett attempted a second shot in same fashion, targeting the same area on the 29th delivery, this time hitting Jordan Clark with a full-toss for a one-bounce boundary. Even if the way it was delivered helped with the execution, it was still amazing to see how much forethought and accuracy there was.
