Cricketer Nitish Reddy from Andhra Pradesh made his IPL debut in 2023 with Sunrisers Hyderabad, however he was limited to playing in just two games during the season. But the all-rounder’s next season proved to be fantastic as he played 13 games with Hyderabad and amassed 303 runs, including a career-high 76*.
Reddy recently shared his thoughts regarding his favourite cricket players and Hardik Pandya’s gratitude. The cricket player from Hyderabad talked candidly about his IPL experience, stating that he was surprised to be selected by his local team for the first season.
Speaking about the communication he got from Hardik Pandya, Nitish Kumar Reddy was cited by as stating, “Hardik bhai sent me a message saying to keep respecting the game and that the intent and energy I was giving on the pitch was good.
” We’ll chat shortly, he said. Considering that he was preoccupied with World Cup obligations, I was taken aback by his message following the IPL season. My role models for being an all-around player are Ben Stokes and Hardik Pandya. I thanked him for his message in my reply.
He declared, “I really admire AB de Villiers and Virat Kohli,” when discussing his cricketing heroes. Over the past ten years, I have become a major fan of RCB. I got the opportunity to meet Virat Kohli in 2023. I just wanted to shake his hand and obtain his autograph; I didn’t really have any questions for him. I wanted to perform well against RCB in 2024 in the hopes that Virat Kohli would take note of my abilities. During the post-game handshake, he recalled my name even though I didn’t get to bat in that particular match. It had great meaning for me.
“I was expecting to get picked in the auction but didn’t expect Sunrisers Hyderabad,” Reddy stated, describing his auction day and being selected by the SRH squad. Being a member of the home team is an honour. My mother and father were both shedding happy tears when I contacted them right away. It was really important to me. It’s about making my parents proud. My father was overjoyed when I called to tell him I had been picked for India. Despite my injury keeping me from participating, I was glad to have made dad proud. Additionally, I want to make India proud.”
Reddy emphasised his batting efforts after a poor 2023 IPL season in which he didn’t have much opportunity to bat. He spent a lot of time practicing against fast-paced deliveries, and it showed in the way he played in the just finished season.
Reddy commented on his IPL career thus far, saying, “I didn’t get an opportunity to bat in the IPL in the 2023 season. I played three matches for the Indian under-23 squad after being picked, but I didn’t get to bat as much because the game would be decided by the top four batsmen.

I wanted my bat skills to show that I’m more than just a bowler. I was depressed about not having the opportunity to prove myself. I made the decision to get ready for deliveries at 140–145 km/h when I got home. I spent a lot of time practicing with side-armer deliveries at 145–150 km/h. After a month of getting hit a lot, I started to time the ball well. I came to understand how crucial regular practice is. My at-home gym and net workout regimen, along with my shadow practice regimen, really aided me. You can observe how my game has evolved by 2024.”
