Little Nitish Reddy had a fantastic season in the Indian Premier League 2024, which just ended. The Sunrisers Hyderabad batsman’s performance at the bat enabled him qualify for the five-match series against Zimbabwe. Nevertheless, the all-rounder was unable to make the 15-man roster due to injury.
Nitish was not considered for the forthcoming Sri Lanka series, which is scheduled to start on July 27, when the senior cricket players returned. He is still relevant, though, particularly in light of questions over Hardik Pandya’s fitness. For the same reason, the all-rounder lost his captaincy, and BCCI is closely monitoring his fitness.
Reddy recently expressed gratitude to Hanuma Vihari for mentoring him during his formative years. Vihari included the all-rounder in the Ranji Trophy squad since he has been making waves since his U16 days. Although the cricketer didn’t get the chance to play First Class cricket at the time, he spent a lot of time with the seniors and learnt a lot. Reddy also revealed Vihari’s counsel, which advised him to quickly adjust to the circumstances in order to score runs at will.
“Hanuma Vihari gave me support. He helped me win the Ranji Trophy following a successful under-16 campaign. I signed up as an understudy so I could learn since he thought it was too early for me to play Ranji Trophy. He helped me get on the team the next year. He wasn’t with me, yet he nevertheless assisted me in gaining experience. Reddy stated, “He told me that was just the beginning and I had to adjust to the circumstances.

In 13 IPL 2024 games, Reddy amassed 303 runs with a 142.92 strike rate. In addition, he has participated in 17 FC and 22 List A games, scoring 403 and 566 runs, respectively. India hopes to develop him as a three-format player, so a strong domestic season will put him in the running for ODI and Test cricket matches as well.
