From December 26 through January 14, Pakistan will play host to New Zealand for two Tests and three One-Day Internationals. Karachi will serve as the venue for the majority of the matches in this series.
According to the schedule that was distributed by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Tuesday, the first match of the Test series will take place in Multan beginning on January 3, while the first match of the series will take place in Karachi on December 26. On January 10, 12, and 14, the one-day international matches will take place at the National Stadium in Karachi.
In the previous year, New Zealand was scheduled to play a series of ODIs and T20Is against Pakistan. However, on the directives of their government, they returned from Rawalpindi without playing any matches due to an unknown security danger to them.
This year has proven to be a boon for cricket in Pakistan, as they have already hosted Australia, and England are currently playing a Test series in the country after having played a seven-match Twenty20 International series in the country back in October.
After the attack on the Sri Lankan team that took place in March 2009 in Lahore, Pakistan did not host any tests or international series between the years 2009 and 2019, since other countries’ teams feared for their safety following the incident.
With the agreement of both Boards, the first game of the series versus New Zealand will now take place one day earlier.
The year 2003 was the last time New Zealand competed in a Test match in Pakistan.
Another combined white-ball series will take place during New Zealand’s tour to Pakistan in April of the following year.
