Before the ODI series against Ireland, Bangladesh named Nic Pothas as its assistant coach.

Nic Pothas, who used to play for South Africa, was recently named as the team’s new assistant coach by the Bangladesh Cricket Board. Pothas has been a coach for a few years. In the last six years, he has been the interim coach for both the West Indies and Sri Lanka. He was the West Indies’ interim fielding coach and assistant coach in 2018 and 2019. He was also Sri Lanka’s top fielding coach (2017–2018).

Pothas was the wicketkeeping coach for the English County Cricket Club, Hampshire, before he joined the Bangladesh team. The 49-year-old would know what to do as an assistant coach for Bangladesh, and the team will hope that it works out for them. Pothas couldn’t make a name for himself as a player in international cricket.

The wicketkeeper-batsman only scored 24 runs in three ODIs for South Africa. In his 218 first-class games, he did score 11438 runs. As Bangladesh’s new assistant coach, Pothas will work with Chandika Hathurusinghe, Allan Donald, Rangana Herath, Jamie Siddons, and Shane McDermott, all of whom are already on the team’s coaching staff.

I’m proud to be a part of the Bangladesh National Team: Pothas
Nic Pothas spoke out after being named Bangladesh’s assistant coach to talk about what the job meant to him and what his goals were for the team going forward.

“I’m proud to be a part of the Bangladesh National Team. Bangladesh has a lot of different kinds of talented people, and I think we have some exciting years ahead of us “Bangladesh Cricket said that Pothas said this.

The South African will join the team for the next two years, and he will be there when Bangladesh plays Ireland in an ODI series. Both teams will play each other in a three-game ODI series that will start on May 9, 2023.

The Tigers have been playing great white-ball cricket lately, and they’ll be hoping that continues when they play Ireland. It could be interesting to see how Pothas’s appointment could help them in the future.
