Sourav Ganguly thinks the experienced player, who needs a century against the Australians, will have a huge series.
Cheteshwar Pujara, the centre of Team India’s batting, is about to reach a significant milestone as he will play his 100th Test match in the next series against Australia. Former Indian captain and current BCCI president Sourav Ganguly thinks the experienced player, who needs a century against the Australians, will have a huge series.

After scoring a match-winning century against Bangladesh last month, Cheteshwar Pujara snapped his century drought in the longest version of the game. He has only had one other century to his name in the previous three years. In fact, his most recent century before the Bangladesh Test came in 2019 against Australia, India’s following opponent.

Sourav Ganguly, a former Indian captain, has asked Pujara to prove his mettle by scoring a century against a top-tier bowling team while Virat Kohli’s poor red-ball performance has received all the attention. The 35-year-old batting prodigy will join an elite group of cricketers that includes Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly, and Rahul Dravid as the 13th player to accomplish the milestone of 100 Tests for India.
“His 100th Test is being played in Delhi, which is a fantastic accomplishment. He will play 100 Test matches, becoming the 13th Indian to do so, and he fully deserves it. He must, however, also perform at his highest level since, after the previous three years, even he needs a Test hundred against strong opposition. A significant series for him “stated Ganguly in a Sportstar interview.

The batsman from Saurashtra has been an essential component of India’s batting order in recent years, and his batting attitude will be critical for the home team in the next Test series against Australia, which begins on February 9. All eyes will be on the surface for the first Test match of the series at Nagpur’s Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium (VCA).
