The Pakistan Blind Cricket Council (PBCC) said on Monday that its team’s departure for the Twenty20 World Cup in India has been delayed due to complications relating to visas. The tournament will take place in India.
The Blind Cricket Federation of India is responsible for organising this event, which will take place in nine different cities across India from December 6th to the 17th.
An official from the PBCC stated that despite the fact that the competition begins today, the Indian government has not yet provided visas to the members of the PBCC.
He stated that the PBCC was unsure as to whether or not it would be able to send its squad due to the fact that its departure had already been delayed and the opening ceremony of the event was held on Monday at the Tau Devi Lal Indoor Stadium in Gurugram.
Since the 23rd of November, we have submitted an application for the visas, and we have also written a letter requesting that the Blind Cricket Council investigate the problem.
The competition will last for a total of twelve days and will feature participation from six different teams: the hosts, India, as well as Bangladesh, Australia, Sri Lanka, Nepal, and South Africa.
Next their match against South Africa on December 7, Pakistan will take the field against India the following day.
He continued by saying, “We have even requested assistance from the Pakistan Cricket Board.”
During the most recent T20 World Cup for the Blind, Pakistan came in second place.
