The T20 World Cup 2024, an ICC mega event, captivates viewers in the Americas with the aim of raising awareness and enthusiasm for the beautiful game and strengthening its reputation and appeal in the Western Hemisphere. Along these same lines, another significant event occurred when Roger Goodell, the commissioner of the National Football League (NFL), and Jay Shah, the secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), met in New York.
In case you missed it, the NFL is a professional American football league that began play in 1920. Like the IPL, the NFL is immensely popular and has a large following. The Super Bowl, which is held every year, is a much-anticipated event that is known for featuring well-known performers during halftime acts. Interestingly, on September 1, 2006, the NFL commissioner began his tenure.
The BCCI posted a 30-second video of Shah and Goodell together on their official X handle. Shah displayed an American football helmet in the video, which had the Indian flag behind it and the Team India logo on it. The video also included a glimpse of the Indian jersey that Team India is now wearing in the major tournament. It included Goodell’s name and the number “10” on it.
Here’s where NFL officials and cricket players have partnered:

Roger Goodell and Jay Shah discussed fan interaction strategies.
The video also showed the two dignitaries joking around and having fun in a conference room with several other board members. Later, they gathered around a large rectangular table in a large room, Jay Shah and Roger Goodell leading the first discussion, which focused on sharing better techniques, exchanging conceptual frameworks, and boosting fan participation and interactions.
