The new National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru was opened by the BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) on Sunday, September 29. The facility was constructed with the intention of fostering the next generation of Indian athletes, according to BCCI Secretary Jay Shah. The BCCI Centre of Excellence will now be another name for the location.
In addition, the complex occupies more than 40 acres and will include 86 pitches with indoor and outdoor spaces spread across three grounds. Not to mention, there will be three top-notch cricket grounds in the center’s core.
There are up to thirteen red soil pitches that can be used for play on the main field, Ground A, which has an 85-yard border. Grounds B and C have 75-yard bounds and are primarily used for practice. There are nine Black Cotton and eleven Mandya dirt pitches on the grounds.
The subsurface drainage system is installed to facilitate rapid recovery following precipitation. There are also forty-five outdoor net pitches at the center. Up to six outdoor running tracks and the fielding practice area are located right next to the nets.
Regarding the interior spaces, there are eight pitches equipped with Australian and UK turf. In addition, there is a shared run-up space spanning 80 meters with toughened glass panels that let in natural light. The integrated cameras are also located in the inside space, where they will record plays for enhanced analysis. This feature guarantees that players can train in any weather or time of day.
