Riyan Parag was picked for the forthcoming white-ball series against Sri Lanka by BCCI selectors despite his mediocre performances in the series against Zimbabwe. The youthful player was selected for both the T20Is and the ODI team since Tilak Varma is presently sidelined with an injury.

Rana finished as the joint fourth-leading wicket-taker of the IPL 2024 after taking 19 wickets in 13 matches. In the series against Sri Lanka, he is anticipated to get some action.
