At Kensington Oval in Barbados, they secured an exhilarating seven-run triumph. The Indian players, accompanied by their spouses and family on the ground, burst into ecstasies as they celebrated this historic occurrence.
Jay Shah, the Secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), made his way out to the outfield to congratulate Rohit Sharma and his squad on their incredible feat. He took part in the Indian team’s celebrations, including the trophy-lifting ceremony, and was seen supervising the medal presentations to the team. Still, it wasn’t all.

Jay Shah said on X on Sunday, June 30, that Team India would receive INR 125 crores in prize money for winning the 2024 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. The Chief Executive of the ICC, Geoff Allardice, highlighted the historical significance of the 2024 edition prior to the event starting and the significant prize money that was awarded to teams and players alike. The ICC awarded $2.45 million (INR 20.42 crore) in cash to India, the winner of the main event.
In the meantime, Shubman Gill will be captaining a redesigned Indian team for the Men in Blue’s upcoming five-match Twenty20 International series in Zimbabwe. Due to their outstanding performances in the IPL 2024, young players like as Abhishek Sharma and Riyan Parag were rewarded with a national call-up. Prior to the announcement of a new candidate to take Rahul Dravid’s place, NCA chief VVS Laxman will travel with the team in his capacity as official head coach for the tour.
