Following Faruque Ahmed’s appointment as president of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), one of the main topics of discussion among cricket enthusiasts is Chandika Hathurusingha‘s potential future as head coach of Bangladesh. The Sri Lankan led Najmul Hossain Shanto’s team to their first-ever Test series victory against Pakistan earlier this week, despite the rumours.
Faruque became the BCB president last month. He has played seven One-Day Internationals (ODIs) for Bangladesh from 1988 to 1999. The 58-year-old has expressed his discontent in the past few years with Hathurusingha’s teaching style. He made it clear that his position has not changed. Hathurusingha is still in Bangladesh’s plans, though, and he will lead the squad on their next tour of India, according to BCB director Nazmul Abedin.
Nazmul was cited as saying, “The head coach will come, and he will be here in Bangladesh (and will guide the team against India)”.
Chandika Hathurusingha left Bangladesh a day after arriving from Pakistan, despite reportedly wanting to meet with the BCB heirarchy.
On September 12, he is anticipated to return to Bangladesh. Shakib Al Hasan, an excellent all-rounder for Surrey in county cricket in England, will travel directly to India, according to Nazmul. On Monday, September 9, the entire Bangladeshi team is supposed to begin preparations.
“Shakib will travel from England to India to play. As of right moment, we wish to maintain our current level of knowledge. As far as I know, there is no problem with injuries. Ideally, every member of the team will be accessible. Shakib left to play County, and maybe everyone else will be around. The entire squad is anticipated to begin full-time practice on September 9′, he continued.
