Former cricketer Basit Ali has made a prediction that Gary Kirsten, Pakistan’s head coach for white-ball cricket, will be fired following the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy. He added that placing the team in the top four of the competition would be a tremendous accomplishment for Pakistani cricket.
It is noteworthy since earlier this year, Gary Kirsten was named Pakistan’s white-ball coach. But even under Kirsten’s leadership, Pakistan had a terrible T20 World Cup 2024 campaign that ended in their elimination from the tournament’s group stages.
Basit Ali predicted that Gary Kirsten wouldn’t be able to continue in his role following the 2025 Champions Trophy
“To Gary Kirsten, congratulations. He will lead the group until the Champions Trophy is awarded. He will, however, lose his job following the Champions Trophy. Now when it’s time to say goodbye to Tata, I’m saying this. Pakistan’s placing in the top four will be a significant accomplishment. They have also entered Pakistani cricket politics. In a video posted to his YouTube channel, Basit Ali predicted that they would fail.
Everyone wants a successful team, I believe: Gary Kirsten
The Pakistan Cricket Board, or PCB, recently held a connecting camp to foster teamwork and address issues of unanimity within the team. He came up and acknowledged that the squad needs to make some adjustments.
“I believe that everyone wants their team to be successful and to perform well in every game they play in. Nor is there a reason why it couldn’t. The cricket squad has exceptional skill in all formats, but procedures must be followed, Kirsten stated at a press conference.

And that’s, I believe, what we’re concentrating on. We want to be sure that the nation has a strong structure, that there is competition for spots, and that our squad is working together to compete against the top teams in the globe,” he continued.
