Basit Ali, a former cricket player for Pakistan, recently expressed sympathy for veteran opener Fakhar Zaman. Despite the 34-year-old’s recent removal from central contracts and national team selection, the former stated that Fakhar is still the nation’s best T20 opener.
After he expressed his support for former captain Babar Azam during the team’s difficulties, the southpaw’s standing within the Pakistani squad has come under investigation. For the first time in eight years, Zaman lost his core contract with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) as a result of the tweet. The board attributed the decision to fitness concerns and the social media post. Basit believes that rather than being penalised, Fakhar should be commended for his sacrifice on behalf of the team.
One player who gave up his batting position for Mohammad Rizwan and Babar Azam was Fakhar Zaman. He is the best opener for Pakistan in Twenty20 cricket. Fakhar is the greatest opener, according to even a vegetable vendor. On his YouTube channel, Basit stated, “He switched his batting position for the benefit of the nation.”
Fakhar should have been given some leeway as well: Basit Ali
Basit noted that the 34-year-old has been unfairly singled out, arguing that many others had tweeted in the past without experiencing the same repercussions.
“With his tweet, he broke the law. But a lot of individuals have previously tweeted. It is not just Fakhar. Why don’t you discipline the other gamers? Everyone should be treated equally, I always say. You ought to have given Fakhar some leeway as well, Basit continued, while the other players were unaffected.
The player’s morale has suffered greatly as a result of Fakhar’s recent absence from Pakistan’s central contracts and forthcoming tours to Australia and Zimbabwe.
