The opening Test of the two-game series between India and Bangladesh is scheduled to begin. Starting on September 19, the two teams will square off in Chennai’s MA Chidambaram Stadium. The match will start with Bangladesh taking the pitch first after winning the toss and going in to bowl first.
Moreover, a few familiar faces returned to the Indian Test lineup. Several players, including KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant, make their Test playing XI comeback as they are included in the opening Test against Bangladesh.
Pant’s first Test match for India after his potentially fatal tragedy in December 2022 will take place. The fans and squad were anticipating Pant’s return, since he is one of the finest players for India in the format.
Although Bangladesh has yet to win a Test match in India, their recent series victory over Pakistan will have given them more confidence, and they will try to give India’s team their best in Chennai and Kanpur for the second Test as well.
When revealing their selections for the opening Test, the hosts selected a trio of pacers: Mohammed Siraj, Jasprit Bumrah, and Akash Deep. Spinners Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin will do the heavy lifting. Bangladesh also entered the game with a same lineup.

Regarding the pitch, it is reported that there would be some grass and some wetness on it at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai for the first Test. With three pacers on each side, they will attempt to take advantage of the red-soil pitch’s anticipated bounce and turn in the early going of the game.
Here’s how ‘X’ reacted after the toss:
Can’t a team be allowed to name their playing XI after the toss even in #TestCricket? This will make the lottery of toss less decisive esp things like no of seamers vs spinners.#INDvBAN #IndVsBan #chennai
