After defeating Pakistan 2-0 in the Test series, Bangladesh made history. The team led by Najmul Hossain Shanto entered the series as the underdog, but they defied the odds and triumphed admirably. The unrest back home affected their preparation for the series, but it didn’t stop them from winning back-to-back games in Rawalpindi.
To put it mildly, the players were ecstatic about winning the series. Especially, the bowlers were excellent in the second half, limiting Pakistan to 172 runs with five and four wickets, respectively, from Hasan Mahmud and Nahid Rana. Shanto and Mominul Haque eventually took advantage of the excellent start provided by Zakir Hasan and Shadman Islam during the chase.
After the game, Bangladesh bowling coach Andre Adams said he was extremely pleased of the players and that the spectators will be thrilled because they had just witnessed some terrifying things. In addition, he expressed his satisfaction with the bowling unit and praised the pacers.
“We are really proud of this young team. Our pacers put up a great effort, but these weren’t the kind of wickets we were hoping for going into this tour. I’ve joined a group that is already rather competent; yet, the fast bowlers require special attention from the management because they are eager to play. So far, I’m pleased with how things are going. We were there and it was fairly scary, so I don’t know what it means for the country, but I’m sure they’ll be proud of the squad, especially considering what occurred in the last few months,” Adams remarked following the game.
It’s all about working together: Litton Das
Litton Das’ incredible 138-run first-inning hit earned him the title of Player of the Match. At one point, Bangladesh was down to 26/6 and required a unique strategy to turn things around. At that point, the game was altered by a 165-run partnership between Litton and Mehidy Hasan Miraz. Regarding the innings, Litton expressed his confidence in himself and expressed gratitude to the management. In addition, he discussed the challenges faced at home and the dedication required of all cricket players to succeed.
“Miraz and I wanted to bat for a long time, but Pakistan bowled well during that spell. We just believed in ourselves.” The momentum changed after he hit a four and a six. I took my time and wanted to play as many overs as I could because I didn’t have many scoring opportunities when Hasan arrived.

Hasan deserves praise as well for his excellent batting. Things weren’t up to par when we arrived home, so we came here and worked really hard. Thanks to everyone and the coaching staff, it’s all about teamwork,” the batter-wickekeeper stated.
