In the eleventh match of the Women’s Asia Cup 2024, Bangladesh Women faced Malaysia Women on July 24 at the Rangiri Dambulla Stadium in Dambulla. After winning the toss, Bangladesh chose to bat first. With the help of the powerplay, Dilara Akter and Murshida Khatun scored 51 runs.
After hitting a 20-ball-33, Akter became the first wicket to fall for the Bangladeshi team. Khatun and captain Nigar Sultana had an important 89-run partnership. Khatun hit ten boundaries and one six during her 80-run innings. The captain of Bangladesh also contributed significantly, scoring 62 runs while remaining undefeated.
After their allotted 20 overs, the 2018 edition victors managed to score 191 runs and only lose two wickets. Elsa Hunter and Mahirah Izzati Ismail were the only two bowlers to take wickets for the Malaysian team. The Sultana-led team’s ability to score a massive total against a less skilled opponent worked to their favour as they quickly took two wickets during the powerplay. After Ainna Hamizah Hashim scored 11 runs and Wan Julia a duck, they both made their way back to the dressing room.
The opposition bowlers proved to be exceedingly difficult for Winifred Duraisingam, Elsa Hunter, and Mahirah Izzati Ismail, who batted in the middle order, to score those runs for their team. The former champions won the Women’s Asia Cup 2024 match by 114 runs since no other Malaysian bowler was able to stay at the wicket long enough. Malaysia was only able to score 77 runs. They also took eight wickets. With the ball, Nahida Akter was the main wrecker, taking two wickets in her allotted four overs while only allowing 13 runs to be scored.

Murshida Khatun will draw so much confidence from this knock. The feel of it. Malaysia has been very doormat-y. More from the field than with the ball. Little heartbreaking to watch. #AsiaCup2024

A Bangladesh women’s team which once found it difficult to score 100 runs, today the same team is scoring 191/2, what is it doing in the market, even the T20 match has been made a joke among the people
