India defeated Australia by 20 runs in the fourth Twenty20 International thanks to an outstanding performance by Axar Patel with the line and length. Travis Head provided the squad a flying start as they chased 175 runs, but Axar took his wicket during the powerplay to deal a serious blow to Australia. The southpaw was hitting nicely, and the outcome might have been different if he had been able to stay in the crease.
After the game, captain Suryakumar Yadav praised Axar for his performance and said he always loved to put the 29-year-old under pressure.
The all-rounder then claimed the wickets of Ben McDermott and Aaron Hardie. In four games, he completed with a 16/3 record and was named Player of the Match. In order to limit Australia, the colorful batter also revealed that the squad intended to bowl yorkers in the final overs.
“Everything went perfectly, except for the toss. For us, the most important thing was that boys demonstrated character. We discussed at the meeting prior to the game the importance of being courageous and expressing oneself. Axar bowled so amazing, and I always love to put him under pressure. After the game, NDTV cited Yadav as stating, “The plan (during the death overs) was to go for the yorkers and then see what happens.”
The stand between Rinku and Jitesh emphasized India’s victory against Australia in Raipur.
In the meantime, India’s victory in the fourth Twenty20 International in Raipur had several good aspects. Jitesh Sharma (35 runs off 19 deliveries) and Rinku Singh (46 runs off 29 deliveries) both produced outstanding performances under duress. Together, they shared 58 runs, which helped India to a respectable total.
Conversely, Shreyas Iyer played his first Twenty20 international match in more than a year, and Deepak Chahar returned to the Indian team. Right now, the goal is to go to South Africa after a solid Bengaluru finish.
